Irrigation, Water Quality & Water Policy
Cooperative Extension conducts research to identify more efficient ways to use water to help conserve our water supply. Less pumping helps to save water, and helps to reduce sea-water intrusion. This includes conducting studies that increase our understanding about the uses and effects of using recovered water for agriculture.
A common goal of city residents and farmers is preserving water quality and the sea life in the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, because our natural resources provide the basis for farming, fishing, and tourism industries. Cooperative Extension plays an important role in helping farmers and coastal residents meet their goals.
