Department Summary:
The Nutrition Policy Institute (NPI) is a research center within the Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources at the University of California. NPI conducts and translates policy-relevant research to transform environments for healthy children, families, and communities. Our work focuses on increasing equity and sustainability in food systems and food and nutrition programs and policies at the local, state, and national levels. We work with multiple partners and funders to examine ways to ensure children, families, and communities have access to the financial, social, and physical resources they need to secure an adequate and healthy diet and to be physically active. NPI has a staff of approximately 30-40 academic, staff, and student positions funded predominately by 20-40 grants from large foundations, healthcare institutions or government agencies.

Position Summary:
Under general supervision of NPI's Chief Business Officer, the incumbent supports all human resources, office management and information technology functions. Uses experienced knowledge and skills as an experienced administrative operations professional with an understanding of UC system-wide practices, policies, and procedures. Provides analytical support, service, and training to NPI leadership, supervisors and employees. Uses knowledge of professional concepts to research, analyze, interpret and apply policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues that are moderate in scope and complexity. Works collaboratively with central HR, IT/telecom and business departments and serves as a liaison and hand-off point with regard to supported actions and functions. Manages sensitive and confidential information. Works as a professional, cognizant of high-sensitivity, confidentiality and fairness across a large organization. Involves multi-tasking and working under competing deadlines. This position is eligible for hybrid work.

This position is a career appointment that is 50% fixed.

The home department for this position is Nutrition Policy Institute. While this position normally is based at 1111 Franklin Street, Oakland, CA, this position is eligible for hybrid flexible work arrangements, for applicants living in the State of California, at this time. Please note that hybrid flexible work arrangements are subject to change by the University. 

Pay Scale: $28.83/hour to $39.47/hour

This position will promote, in all ways consistent with the other responsibilities of the position, accomplishment of the Affirmative Action goals established by the Division.

The University reserves the right to make employment contingent upon successful completion of the background check. This is a designated position requiring a background check and may require fingerprinting due to the nature of the job responsibilities. UC ANR does hire people with conviction histories and reviews information received in the context of the job responsibilities.
