Interesting interview in this morning's Wall Street Journal with PepsiCo CEO Ramon Laguarta, who outlines the orientation of his company to not distance itself so much from its flagship products like colas and chips, but to nevertheless make them healthier by reducing sodium, sugar and saturated fats.
He describes his broader aim to give consumers "positive choices", both for their own health and that of the planet. Here's the interesting part (emphases mine): Within a few years he wants their Lays potato chips in the USA and other key markets to be made from potatoes grown from regenerative agriculture methods, manufactured in facilities that use no municipal water, cooked with amounts of sodium and saturated fats that meet World Health Organization guidelines, packed in compostable bags and delivered to stores on electric trucks.
Folks, this is PepsiCo saying this, regenerative ag is really moving into the mainstream, and quickly. I've got to get up to speed on this.
